Today, there are many nutritional systems and computer programs that work not only with different regression equations in the calculation itself, but are also “fed” different values of key indicators, such as NEL (net energy for lactation), RDP and RUP (rumen degradable and undegradable protein), etc.
Therefore, we do not recommend comparing FRs from different sources. Unlike a cow, paper eats everything.
However, all systems have one thing in common. They aim to be based on the need for nutrients digestible in the intestines for milk or meat production. The most widespread evaluation of CP in feed in our country is the PDI system, which is more or less consistent with other systems used worldwide.
However, this system is only indicative, as it gives values of individual feeds as if they were fed alone, which is especially unthinkable for cattle!
Moreover, the availability of AAs in the intestines is determined on the assumption that all AAs from the feed are degraded in the rumen evenly, just like total CP, which recent findings have disproven.
So these are only hypothetical values.
Also, the timing of availability of energy and CP varies between feeds and depends on their combination and the retention time in the rumen. There is no PC program that can synchronize the timing of nutrient degradation in the rumen.
Not every computer output really meets the requirements of a quality feed ration.
LINACONCEPT is based not only on the latest PC programs and global knowledge of cattle nutrition, but above all on the long-term experience of the people involved in its development.
